Over the last few months, i have been writing lots of new music
and most resently i've started diving more into the computer
(DAW) world, something though i dabbled, i've been avoiding...
i'm finding it very inspiring...

i'm working the a local label (innerflight) through which i'll be
releasing a 3 track ep. that should be out in a couple months.
man i can't wait for the summer festival season to start!

The LoveFest Experiment #6

The Experiment continues! Yeah, yeah. We're one of the few groups out there that takes a break from throwing a monthly event so they can stage three massive events at a remote desert location (Blackout on Monday, The Temple Of Breaks on Wednesday, and A Night In Purgatory on Thursday).

But yes, we're back. We're showered, we're shaved, we're all cleaned up and looking presentable. Well, almost presentable ;-) And what's the best way to celebrate? How about 20+ hours of music? Some of it on The Purgatory Cruiser rocking down Market Street, some of it rattling the stone columns at the Civic Center, and some of it tearing up two rooms at our favorite spot on 11th Street (just a few blocks away from the Civic Center). Sounds about right, don't you think? The very best in DJ sets, Live PA, and hardware....

The PARADE starts at noon at 2nd & Market. The PARTY starts at the Civic Center immediately following the parade. The AFTER-PARTY starts at 9PM and goes all the way through til 8AM. And yes, the bar will re-open at 6AM... we're working on management to cook up some kind of bloody mary or mimosa special for the survivors. It's been a long year, it's going to be a long night, we've got a lot of love to share.

been a while since i've posted anything up on here.

not sure who else is playing or what time my set is

but i will be there and so will NAHA. i assume they'll

bring in some re-enforcement for this one. the sound
at tost is rather lacking(understatment). well, so is just
about every club/party in seattle. i see $15 parties that
have one sub per room!! not kidding. it pains me.
After i played on Mannahans KV2 at EnSee-i now know
what i've been missing. a lot. oh i'll never be the same
again.

DIVERSION: the portland decompression

this is a shout-out to all burners, theme camps, musical acts, performance artists, clowns, fire spinners, etc!

the Portland decompression party, "Diversion", is set to blast off on October 21st at city repair's huge new cathedral warehouse space on mississippi avenue. prepare to have your minds blown! the preliminary planning is going smoothly and we already have some wonderful DJs and musicians on board (including our beloved friend Nova), but we are still booking for it and are open to contributions from installation artists and musical acts and performers in the community. do you have something you'd like to share with the rest of us? have a theme camp that would like to be a presence at this event? have a ready workshop that you'd like to lead? want to be part of the fire show? then get in touch with me, and i will direct you to the people you need to network with.

this has the potential to turn into something bigger and better than any decompression before, a burner family event that will be brought to the city at large. a large portion of the proceeds will be donated to local artists, so come out and support it!

Seriously, Nova, there's clearly something very very wrong with you. I read the spec sheets, and people aren't supposed to kick as much ass as you do. And musically, I can't even begin to fathom how you do it my brother. Yeah, your Temple Of Breaks set this year blew the doors off your performance last year. But one of my favorite playa moments ever has to be arriving at camp in the wee hours on Monday night as I was following my ears... they were leading me to the most magical, amazing, kickass noises I could ever hope to hear on the playa... naturally that was where you were throwing down.

critical MASSive review

so last weekend (6-22 thru 6-25) was the seattle regional
BM recompression '06, and my first visit to critical MASS (in it's forth year)
it was located, one hour n. of seattle on a private resort called L.A.R.C,
a clothing optional resort. this spot is in the woods, with open fields of lush
green grass with a couple roads that circle the grounds--open to art cars
and golf carts. there was a 500 person limit and the event was not promoted
at all--all word of mouth, so it was almost only people from the seattle
area. i would say this event was as close to giving one a taste of
actually being at burning man as i have ever seen. i mean, it was burning man,
just on a small scale--with 5-600 freaks, art cars, installations and full-on esplinade camps
only with trees(shade!) and no dust! gates lock up at 10pm. no one leaves or comes in.
total freedom zone.
only negatives were lack of access water (swimming) from the resort :( but
i did hear of a waterfall?? and sounds had to be off at 4am-10am (6am-8am on sat).
we did have sound complaints from the neighbors.
i heard the sheriff came out :)
my new NW crew the Seattle Breakbeat Association set up a
sound camp, one of 3 large scale sound systems, which we were of
course not 'registered' and brought what some thought was too big for
a renegade camp. we had a super nice spot right next to flight to mars--what i would call
the 'mega-club' of the event...while the SBA was holding it down
underground stylie. we had 3 live PA's. myself, forrest (software
based) and rob anonimous (very similiar setup to mine) with shapeshifter
and whatever on the decks. the five of us held it down pretty much
for four days. we did have a couple of guest dj's and a band
-the shirt cockers-an improvitational drunken rock band--'stick yo finger
in your butthole!' played a half hour set saturday night. they were pretty
amusing for few minutes, anyways...
we had a decent sound rig(mackie 1232's and 4 450's with cerwin
'earthquake' 18" subs), some intelli-lighting and a lounge with full bar and
keg. it was looking and sound tight. i was really impressed with our little
set-up.
friday night i played from 10:30 - midnight on the 'main' stage --aka the boogie universal
stage. when i got there--no one was playing. i set up and dropped
the beat, managing to rangle in about 30 people at one time with several
others stopping through to get down a little--it was a pretty good set and a good warm
up for what would follow...so back at SBA things where going off with shapey
holding court...next door at flight to mars they were have their
'PROM' party and this is where most of the masses were.
i got my rig back and set up. at about 2am i threw down my most drunken
set ever--it's all kind of a blur and i don't know how i was holding it together,
but i do remember a packed dance floor. they were screaming and getting off.
forrest was playing funk guitar and shapey was on the mic letting everyone
know what time it was.... at about four i was F-A-D-I-N-G ....i yell to dj whatever
to help me out and he , also in no condition to be driving the sound system,
mixes into journey--(they don't call him jack ass for nothing) and i collapse onto
the stage....
i must have played about 20 hours through out the weekend, a mighty good training
session. all in all a super fun weekend. my faith has been restored in the
seattle burning man scene. i highly recommend to anyone to come out next
year!!
